Virgil Tulis Berrong Sr.

Virgil Tulis Berrong Sr., 85 of Thompsonville, IL passed away Tuesday, April 23,2024. Virgil was born on March 8, 1939 in Thompsonville, IL to the late Virgil and Eunice (Holiday) Berrong. 

Virgil married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Phelps, on July 17, 1959. He graduated from Galatia High School. Virgil had a huge love for horses and loved the farm life. He was a member of the Saline County Low Riders Saddle Club and had been attending the Nine Day Trail Ride for 50 years. Virgil's favorite horse was named, Bar. He was a loving husband and father. Virgil had lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren who he loved to spend time with.  

Virgil is survived by his wife, Barbara (Phelps); three children, Virgil (Tamey) Berrong Jr., Sunday (Dwight) Whitlock, Kevin (Tonya) Berrong and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Virgil was proceeded in death by his parents, Virgil and Pearl (Holiday) Berrong.

There will be a private service. Sloan Funeral Home of Galatia in charge of arrangements.
