Vida Lou Gilmore

Vida Lou Gilmore, 89 of Galatia, IL passed away Saturday, May 6, 2024, at Shawnee Rose Care Center in Harrisburg. Vida was born on October 5, 1934, in Arkansas to the late John and Josie (Churchill)  Brownlee.

Vida married John Gilmore on March 21, 1954 at the New Friendship Baptist Church in Paragould, Arkansas. Vida and John moved around a lot over the years as God called him to different churches to preach. She was a wonderful wife of a Pastor and as she saw a need within a church she would step up to help. Vida and John moved to Galatia for good in 1991. She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church in Galatia where she served as their Treasurer until she was no longer able to. Along with being a wonderful Pastors wife she was also a good seamstress and loved to sing until her health did not allow her to anymore. Vida was a loving wife, mother and friend.

Vida is survived by her son, John Loren Gilmore.

Vida is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Services for Vida will be held Sunday, May 19,2024, at 10:30 a.m.at Long Branch Church in Galatia. Burial will follow at Tates Chapel Cemetery in Galatia with Scott Johnson officiating. Sloan Funeral Home of Galatia in charge of arrangements.
