Robert “Bob” Leon Kielhorn, 82, of Galatia, passed from this world to his heavenly home December 27, 2023. His last days were spent at the Linda E. White Hospice House in the presence of his children and family.
Bob was born April 6, 1941, in Harrisburg, Illinois. Bob married his late wife, Terry Kielhorn, on January 3, 2007, who passed from a battle with cancer earlier this year.
Bob retired from Southeastern Illinois Electric Coop (SEIEC) in 2006. He was a recon sergeant and demolition expert for the United States Army in the Vietnam War. Bob also retired previously from the Ford Motor Company and then opened the Athletic House.
He loved playing his guitar and singing. This love led him to record a record and carried him on to playing in local nursing homes and at least twice a week at his beloved home church, Honey Comb Church of God in Herod, Illinois. Bob also served there as a Sunday School Teacher and Treasurer. He had a great love for his church, the members and the pastor, Harold Miller.
Bob is survived by his son, Dustin (Tiffany) Kielhorn, daughter, Devin (Josh) Beck, step-daughter, Tawmi (Shawn) Miller and step-son, David (Emily) Patterson. His grandchildren include Walker (Kelsey) Kielhorn, Triton Kielhorn, Madelyne Beck, Liam Beck, Noah Miller, Cameron Miller, Blake Miller, Cora Patterson and Denver Patterson. Surviving sisters include Anita Collins, Nancy Phelps and Rosalind (Bill) Moore.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Honey Comb Church of God in Herod, Illinois or the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.
