Phyllis Belford passed away on April 27, 2024. She was born on April 22, 1945 to the late Vivian Burchell Slagus and Loren Morse. She was born in Harrisburg Illinois at the old Lightner Hospital and remained in Southern Illinois most of her life.
Phyllis loved the Lord and because of her personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ our family takes comfort in her passing. She was extremely excited about meeting Jesus and other family members who have gone before her. In the end mom struggled with physical pain but her faith in the Lord never wavered.
Mom loved Christmas, singing gospel music, mushroom hunting, fishing and junking at thrift shops. But, mostly she loved people. Mom made friends every where she went. From Harco to California and back to Harco she met and made friends. Age, race and bad habits didn’t matter she would love you and make you feel special.
Phyllis left three living children behind; Jimmy (Cara )Davenport from Harrisburg Illinois. Ronnie (Kim)Davenport from Dillon, Montana. Diane Newton from Seattle Washington. In addition, she had eight grandchildren. Christopher (Holly)Davenport, Jamie Farris, Ronald (Nina) Davenport Jr, Stephen (Emily )Davenport, Bryan (Bailey)Davenport. Seth (Danielle) Cox and Drew Cox. In addition, she was blessed with ten grandchildren who she loved very much; Brooklyn, Savannah, Ada, Kolby, RW, Aila, Nikole, Kimmy, Dakota and Axel. She loved them all and cherished the time spent with each one. Phyllis is also survived by one sister, Carol Grider from Harco, Illinois.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her son, Michael Davenport and a granddaughter, Katie Davenport. In addition, her mother Vivian Slagus and sister Sandy Williams both from Harco Illinois.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until funeral hour. Burial will follow in Bankston Fork Cemetery in Harrisburg, IL with Pastor Dale Martin officiating. Sloan Funeral Home of Galatia in charge of arrangements.
