Loy Neal Patterson, Sr.
Loy Neal Patterson, Sr., 79, of Galatia, passed away at 6:40 PM, Friday, December 2, 2022 at Hamilton Memorial Rehabilitation and Health Care in McLeansboro.
Neal was born on March 3, 1943 in Galatia to Loy Seigle and Agnes May (Thomas) Patterson. He married Loretta Rice on February 3, 2001, and she survives in Galatia. Neal’s heart was with Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church and he also attended North America Baptist Church.
Neal served as President to several local banks and retired from MidCountry Bank. After retirement he worked as a consultant to many area banks. Neal was also a Public Relations Representative for Carmi Baptist Children’s Home. He loved his community and would help anyone that he possibly could help. Neal loved bluegrass music, hunting, especially rabbit hunting.
Neal is survived by his wife, Loretta of Galatia; daughter, Deborah Mings (Jeff) of Broughton; daughter, Lynn Wilkerson (Daryl) of Rockwall, Texas; daughter, Anne Patterson of Galatia; son, Neal Patterson, Jr. (Kristi) of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; and Loretta’s children; son, Kevin Rice (Dana) of Harrisburg; son, Alan Rice (Dina) of Galatia; daughter, Lori Baggett (Steve) of Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren, Matthew Mings (Amy) of Raleigh; Luke and Walker Eisenhauer of Galatia; Kyndra, Claire and Owen Patterson of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; Jude, Isaac and Joel Wilkerson of Rockwall, Texas; Allix Smith (Terry) of Vincennes, Indiana; Clayton Baggett (Jennifer) of Washington, D.C.; Caleb Rice of Nashville, Tennessee; Josh Rice (Kayla) of Eldorado; Olivia Boatright (Roby) of Harrisburg; Haley Ochoa (Nick) of Owensboro, Kentucky; Samantha Neibel (Austin) of Marion; eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Neal was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Georgiana (Couch) Patterson; sister, Emojean Kirkland; brother, J.C. Patterson and sister, Donna Rann.
Funeral services for Loy Neal Patterson, Sr. will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 11 AM at Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Galatia. Rev. Jerry Williams, Rev. Dale Martin and Jeff Mings will officiate and burial will follow in Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 4 PM until 7 PM at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia and Wednesday, December 7, 2022 from 10 AM – 11 AM at Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Galatia. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Carmi Baptist Childrens Home.
