Jerry Jasper Tennant

Jerry Jasper Tennant, 79 of Ina, IL passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt.Vernon. Jerry was born on August 3, 1944, in Pennsylvania to the late Mary Tennant.

Jerry married Debra (Boyd) Tennant on March 14,1992. Jerry was a very giving man and loved his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, pappaw, great pappaw and friend. Jerry loved playing music and was a great bass player. He was of Protestant faith and attended Freeman Spur Chapel.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Debra (Boyd) Tennant; two sons, Timothy (Melinda) Tennant, Joseph Mark Tennant; 2 brothers, Harold McGrady, Fred Cumberledge; 1 sister, Theresa Miller; 8 grandchildren, Katy (GT) Purcell, Lauren (John) Guetersloh, McKenzie (Nick) Bejma, Christina Eckols, Luke (Brooke) Tennant, Emily Tennant, Joey (Aliyah) Tennant, Makayla Tennant and 6 great grandchildren; Dawson, Sawyer, Greyson, Hudson, Landri and Fallyn.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, Jasper (Sarah) Tennant; 1 stepson, Steven Eckols and a sister, Linda Stewart.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at the Freeman Spur Chapel in Freeman Spur at 2:00pm with visitation from 12:00pm until funeral hour. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion with Pastor Rick McClintock officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Freeman Spur Church building fund. Sloan Funeral Home of Galatia in charge of arrangements.
