Farrell Lee Davis

Farrell Lee Davis,78, of Galatia, IL, passed away on December 10, 2024 at 12:30 PM at his home. He was born in Eldorado, Illinois on July 13, 1946, the son of the late Lee and Edith (Carter) Davis. 

He married Brenda Woodiel on April 9, 1966. He was an avid hunter with coon dogs and bird dogs. He was a builder, gardener, maintained cemeteries, a scrap collector and enjoyed Sporting Clays Shooting. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a Volunteer Firefighter for 30 years. He worked at Babcock and Wilcox and was a school bus driver for Galatia Schools until his retirement. 

Farrell is survived by one son, Shannon (Regina) Davis of Galatia; two granddaughters, Rachel (Jake) Lyons and Megan Davis both of whom he adored and loved very much. Farrell is also survived by his sisters Rosie (Don) Ellis, Alice (Harold) Hall, and many special nieces and nephews. 

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, a son Brandon Aaron Davis, two nephews; Curt Shackleford and Jeff Shackleford; and one sister-in-law, June Pickering.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia at 1:00 PM with visitation from 10:00 AM until funeral hour. Burial will follow in Tates Chapel Cemetery in Galatia with Pastors Scott Duvall and Aaron Allen officiating with Military Rights by the Army National Guard and the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Sloan Funeral Home of Galatia in charge of arrangements
