David Michael Hayes “Dave” (65) left our world to be with Jesus in heaven on March 26, 2023. Dave fought a battle with ALS Lou Gehrig’s Disease and was surrounded by his family in his home. Dave is preceded in death by his parents John Edger and Donna Mae Hayes. He is survived by his five daughters: Lynda Kaye Wright, Katrina Lynn Stevenson, Nina Marie Wehmeier, Tammy Lee Shamblin and Tammy Nichole Roberts (“Coey”.) His siblings; Robbie Anderson; Sharron Meyers; Jeff Hayes; Mary E. Malek; Joseph Hayes and James Hayes. He is also survived by his former wife Linda Baumgart (James Baumgart).
Dave was born in Geneva IL and was a graduate of IT Tech, and served in the United States Marine Corps. He loved live music and attended lollapalooza and many other large concerts and festivals. He worked as a machinist at 3M and also as an Environmentalist at Gibbs Fertilizer.
Dave was a humble man, always happy to share a story, with his big, bright smile. He had a genuine heart that was led by his life with God. Not many may know that he once drove a friend to St Louis, waited, and drove back home so she could receive cancer treatments. Another of his friends was able to accomplish a recovery program, because Dave drove him every, single, day to the treatment center. He always offered to give, and never asked for anything in return. He loved organics in an eclectic way and studied homeopathic, organic medicinal remedies.
His positivity was something we all should strive for. He never saw the bad in someone or something, always the good. His faith in God enabled him to have such qualities of a generous heart and soul. He was a member of River of Life Pentecostal Church in Harrisburg.
He was very proud of his daughters who cared for him during his battle and comforted him at his home and through his passing. He was also very proud of his 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
