Carmen L. Rude, 93 of Galatia, IL passed away Friday, November 1, 2024 at her home. Carmen was born on October 21, 1931, in Homestead, Wisconsin to the late Roy and Irma (Pearson) Sjoquist.
Carmen was a very giving women who loved to donate to lots of different charities. She had a huge love for shopping and reading magazines. Carmen subscribed to as many of magazines as she knew of. She loved flowers and enjoyed gardening when she was younger. Her love for music varied from Patsy Cline, Kid Rock to Willie Nelson. Carmen loved riding her Polaris 4-Wheeler almost everyday. Growing up she lived on a farm and was a very hard worker. She loved high school and was excellent at short hand. When she moved to Chicago she got to work at lots of well know buildings as a secretary including the Sears Tower, now known as Willis Tower, and Playboy Building. Carmen was a loving mother, grandmother, family member and friend.
Carmen is survived by her three children, Dianne (John) Madland, Joanne Czart, Julie (Neil) Overton; 1 brother; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands, Farrell L. Eady, George Rude; 2 sisters; 1 brother; 3 children, Dennis Wheatley, Benjamin Wheatley and Sandra Eady.
A celebration of life will be held at the family farm at a later time. Sloan Funeral Home of Galatia in charge of arrangements.
