Alma Jean Harris

Alma Jean Harris, 93 of Galatia, IL passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at her residence. Alma was born on December 1, 1929, in Eldorado, IL.

Alma married Sam Harris in 1948 and he preceded her in death on December 11, 2010.  Alma was of Catholic faith and attended St Mary Catholic Church in Eldorado until she was unable to attend. She enjoyed sewing, never needing a pattern, gardening, bird watching and would never miss an opportunity to go shopping at Dillards. Alma was also an animal lover. Alma was a wonderful mother and mother-in-law, and she loved her children and granddaughters very much.

Alma is survived by her 2 children; Steven Harris, Dawn (Scott) Brazill; 2 granddaughters; Jamy Collette and Tina Harris.

Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Harris; parents, Oscar and Bessie (Genet) McDonald, and a brother, Daniel McDonald.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 20, 2023, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia at 12:00 pm with visitation from 11:00 am until funeral hour. Burial will follow in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery in Raleigh with Scott Johnson officiating. Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia in charge of arrangements.
